Brodie Kostecki has taken out the first race of the weekend at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440, his seventh win of the 2026 Supercars season.
The 2023 Supercars champion has bounced back to the top step after a frustrating home race in Perth earlier this month.
The Brisbane-based West Australian out dragged pole sitter Matt Payne at the start, and climbed back to the race lead following the field’s compulsory pit stops to win Race 26 by 1.7 seconds.
Championship leader Payne finished second, ahead of Toowoomba’s Will Brown, who picked up his first podium since New Zealand in April.
Brown’s teammate Broc Feeney came home fourth, while sophomore Kai Allen crossed the line in third but was relegated to fifth following a five-second penalty.
Allen was penalised for contact with Chaz Mostert that sent the 2025 Supercars champion off the road.
Payne leaves Race 26 with a 125-point lead over Feeney heading into this afternoon’s second race.
Race 27 of the 2026 Supercars campaign begins at 4:15 p.m. at Queensland Raceway.
